Todd B. Richter, a distinguished alumnus of the Kelley School who rose to prominence as a leading analyst in the healthcare industry on Wall Street, has recently made a substantial estate commitment to his alma mater. Valued at over $5 million, this commitment has resulted in the establishment of the Todd B. Richter Fund.
The primary objective of the fund is to enhance five key endowments within the school. It will finance two professorships designated for faculty members with extensive expertise in securities analysis. Furthermore, it will provide support for graduate fellowships aimed at students at Kelley who demonstrate a keen interest in finance and securities analysis. Additionally, the fund will extend its assistance to both the Graduate Finance Department and the Dean’s Office. Any surplus funds from the bequest will be equitably distributed among these four allocations.
Dean Daniel C. Smith of the Kelley School has expressed profound gratitude for Richter’s exceptional generosity. He emphasizes that Richter’s contributions extend beyond financial support, as he actively engages with the school community by mentoring students, collaborating with professors on research projects, serving on the Reese Fund board, and adjudicating case competitions. Smith believes that the Richter Fund will serve as a testament to Richter’s values and his dedication to the school, inspiring future generations of the Kelley community.
In his professional capacity, Richter serves as the Managing Director of the global healthcare investment banking group at Bank of America. He is responsible for leading the group’s efforts in financial sponsor coverage and oversees the development of strategic transactions driven by significant strategic and financial trends. Prior to this role, he led the firm’s healthcare research group, leveraging his expertise as a senior research analyst across various sectors of the healthcare industry.
Richter’s illustrious career spans across several prestigious institutions. Before joining Bank of America in 1999, he spent 18 years at Morgan Stanley, where he directed the firm’s healthcare services equity research and actively covered all subsectors within the healthcare services field.
A graduate of the College of William and Mary in 1979, Richter remains actively engaged in the Kelley School community, serving on the Dean’s Council and participating in the Kelley Alumni Association’s Metropolitan New York chapter. He is also a valued member of the Indiana University Foundation’s Arbutus Society. Richter’s professional achievements include being recognized 17 times as an “All-American Analyst” in the Institutional Investor’s Annual Survey and acknowledged as an “All-Star Analyst” by the Wall Street Journal.
